Middle Age and Going Back To School

 I am 55 years old and returning to college.   I am excited, but a little nervous too.   But I hope you find this blog informative and funny.  I am going to attempt to keep up with the younger generation but at the same time show you how I do it. 

 I am currently attempting the free college t-shirt/swag challenge, where you write college admissions and ask them for free stuff.  I already have a bunch of stuff coming in.  Check it out.

I will attempt post a lot of free stuff you can get by emailing companies.  Some might work and some might not.  That is where the challenge comes in.  But I give a lot of information on all my challenges, such as date sent, response and date received, and what I received in the mail.  So, you have all the information to make up your mind.   

So, keep watching.

Please be patient as I just sent out the emails for the College Swag Challenge.  I sent emails on the 13 and 14th of June and I am starting to get items in the mail.    I will be doing the video of all the swag in 4 weeks when the College Challenge is complete.  I update every day.

I currently have a Community College Swag challenge going on.  Where I ask community colleges for information and swag.

Since I did the first college challenge and I am so far succeeding, I decided to do The Community College Challenge.  I did not find a list of email addresses for Community Colleges, so I went to good old Wikipedia and looked up community colleges and started visiting and emailing the various schools.  This took me over a week to send a email to every single school.  I tried mass emailing some schools using a .edu format with name of the school, with a BCC format and that was a failure, as some of the colleges have a spam or blocking system.  It is strange that I did not have this problem with the state universities.  So, I went to every community college website I could find and requested information and swag.  I figured I emailed over 500 community colleges with the same content email I used for the university and a form filler.   Thank in advance to those community colleges who sent information and swag.  Emails went out from June 24-July...

Emailing 1700 Colleges for information and swag-Part 2

I sent my first group of email June 13 and the second batch on Just 14. Thank you in advance to all the college who sent me swag and teaching me about your colleges. I am looking forward into picking a university to attend in the spring. June 16, 2022 , I received to 2 large envelopes and a box. Wow these came so quick. Two of the packages are from University's in my state and the third on is from East Carolina University. No other Informational packets arrived today The University of New York at Fredonia sent me a blue Fredonia T-shirt and a fun fact card on Fredonia State University. Fredonia is about 2 hours away from where I live /. State University of New York at Oswego sent me a Suny Oswego T-shirt, a draw string burlap bag/backpack, 5 pens and 2 Oswego window clings. The Tasty Sweet/Salty Treat Challenge-Part 2 MAIL CALL! -- In Progress

Part 1 of The Sweet/Salty Challenge was where I emailed 100 companies in order to get free snacks and candy. I collected the informaton and it took me approximately 7 hours to email all the companies asking for freebies and coupons. On that page you will see the the company/product, the date they emailed back and their responses. On Part 2 you will see all the companies who actually sent coupons or items in the mail and what I recieved. I know some of these companies and even though they say they won't send you coupons, they will anyways. We will have to wait and find out. Mail Call!
